When you buy top-quality coffee, you want every cup to taste as good as the first. Storing your coffee properly makes a massive difference - and it's easier than you might think.
I'm often asked the best way to store our coffee after opening - and if you start Googling, you'll find a lot of different advice out there!
For 47 Degrees coffee, it’s simple:
👉 Keep it in a dry, cool place, away from strong smells or flavours - like spices, herbs, or onions.
What About the Packaging?
There’s no need to decant your coffee into a fancy container. The bags we send your coffee in are designed to do the job:
-
Smaller bags (up to 500g) come with a resealable zip lock, helping you keep your beans or ground coffee fresh and protected.
-
Larger 1kg bags don’t have a zip lock, but they’re still ideal for storage.
Just roll or clip the bag down tightly after each use - the goal is to keep as much oxygen out as possible to maintain freshness.
How Long Will My Coffee Stay Fresh?
Freshly roasted coffee is at its absolute best in the first 8–12 weeks.
Stored properly, our coffee stays fresh for around three months from roasting.
After that, it’s still perfectly safe and enjoyable to drink - you might just lose a little of the delicate top notes over time. (But rest assured: we only ever send out coffee that's at its peak when it leaves the roastery.)
Quick Tips for Storing Your Coffee:
-
Keep it sealed tightly after each use
-
Store it in a cupboard - somewhere cool, dark, and dry
-
Avoid the fridge or freezer (coffee doesn't like moisture!)
-
Only grind what you need if you’re using whole beans
